Thomas Edwards has been practicing at the Heart Center since 1991. He has
a great deal of passion for his work, and is one of the busiest physicians in the group. He has continued to develop his interventional
cardiology skills by frequently attending national conferences. He is involved in several ongoing clinical and registry studies.
He has experience in coronary and peripheral interventions, such as stenting, rotablader, and atherectomy. He also has trained
to implant pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular pacemakers for heart failure.
Dr. Edwards attended the University of Utah and graduated Magna Cum Laude
honors in 1981. He then proceeded to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he studied medicine. After graduation in 1985, he returned to
Salt Lake to fulfill his internship and internal medicine residency at LDS Hospital.
His next two years were spent serving a cardiology fellowship at the Good
Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Edwards holds board certification in interventional and nuclear cardiology
as well as in general cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Diplomate of the American Board
of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is on active staff at St. Mark's and Pioneer Valley hospitals
and courtesy staff at Alta View and Cottonwood. He alternates weeks in clinic and hospital coverage primarily at St. Mark's.

In 1991, Dr. Edwards helped write a bit of local medical history
when he participated in the first artherectomy procedure performed in Salt Lake City. Additionally, Dr. Edwards holds the
distinction of implanting the first elective stent at St. Mark's Hospital.
Born in Dallas, Texas, but raised in the San Francisco Bay
area, Dr. Edwards and his wife of 23 years, Cynthia (who was raised in Utah), enjoy Utah's unique blend of cultural activities,
traditional values, and mountain terrain. They have three great children, Elyssa, Jeremiah, and Arianna.
As an alumnus of the University of Utah Ski Team, he especially
enjoys hitting the slopes for a day of fabulous skiing. Other than practicing medicine and skiing, Dr. Edwards enjoys hiking,
playing tennis, having fun with his children, and eating ice cream.
