James Zebrack, MD, FACC, FASE
James Zebrack joined the Heart Center after completing his cardiology fellowship
in 2002. He currently is director of clinical research and ECP treatment at the Heart Center. His primary cardiology interests are heart failure and echocardiography. He is
an adjunct associate professor at the University of Utah and volunteers time to teach family practice and internal medicine
residents. He is on the speakers bureau for several pharmaceutical companies and travels to give updates to other
physicians. He participates on the heart failure committee at St. Marks Hospital.
Dr. Zebrack is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular
diseases, and echocardiography, and holds a nuclear medicine license. He is a member of the American Heart Association,
and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.
Dr. Zebrack was raised in Reno, Nevada, where his father still practices
cardiology. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado, he then returned to Reno for medical
school at the University of Nevada. There he married a fellow medical student, Michelle, who now is practicing
at Primary Childrens hospital.
Dr. Zebrack completed a medical internship in Nevada, awaiting his
wife's graduation, where he earned honors for best medicine resident. The couple then matched for
residency at the University of Utah in 1996. James stayed at the University for his cardiology fellowship
from 1999-2002, where he earned awards for research excellence. He has published research articles on inflammation,
infection, depression and kidney failure in relation to coronary disease. He conducted local randomized trials
in heart failure treatment and vascular growth factors. He also has published cardiology review articles, editorials,
and book chapters. He has presented his research findings at national meetings for the American Heart Association
and American College of Cardiolgogy. He has also been an invited reviewer for several medical journal
publications.
James and Michelle have 3 boys. They all enjoy waterskiing, snow skiing,
and bicycling.
