We have a laboratory in our St. Marks and West Valley Offices, where we
can send out routine blood work. Results are usually available the following day, and one of our nurses will generally call
you with the results in a couple of days. Most patients will need routine laboratory work 1-4 times per year.
Almost all laboratory tests may be drawn from our lab, including specialized labs such as lipid subfractions.
Our Coumadin clinic offer point-of-care testing.
A simple finger stick is done rather than a blood draw. Your results are available before you leave, and instructions
on how to adjust you Coumadin will be written down. Coumadin clinic services are available only to patients who are
followed by one of our physicians.
A new test is available to detect aspirin resistance. Aspirin is
important for patients with coronary artery disease. Unfortunately, about 1 in 4 patients are resistant to the
benefits. A simple blood test can now tell you if you are such a person. If you have resistance, this can sometime
be overcome with higher aspirin doses, or the addition of other medications such as clopidogrel (Plavix).
